Beech was formed in the early 1980s as a subsidiary of Family HA (M'cr) Ltd to specialise in the development and management of shared ownership properties. In August 2002 it became a subsidiary of Adactus Housing Group Ltd. As part of The Group, in April 2003 Beech received shared ownership and leasehold properties previously owned by a subsidiary of County Palatine, taking the total number of properties in ownership to 645. Continuing its growth, in October 2006, Beech HA merged with Quest HA. Quest added a further 365 properties to Beech Housing Association, located in Formby, Southport, Crosby and Bootle. This housing consists primarily of rented sheltered accommodation and call alarm flats for older people but also includes some general needs housing and leasehold stock.
Beech now manages just over 1,000 properties in 13 Local Authorities across the North West. The company is registered with the Financial Service Authority under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 and is non-charitable. It is a Registered Social Landlord regulated by The Tenant Service Authority. Beech’s housing and maintenance services are, in the main, provided by Adactus Housing Association employees based at the Leigh (West office), as well as staff based in its sheltered housing schemes.
