Orange RockCorps, the groundbreaking initiative that encourages young people to volunteer their time for a concert ticket, returned to Manchester with a world beating line up!  3,000 volunteers will earn a money-can’t-buy ticket to see music and pop culture superstar Snoop Dogg, indie rockers Vampire Weekend and UK No 1 urban sensation Tinie Tempah live in concert at the Manchester Apollo on Thursday 8 July.

RockCorps chose Adactus’s ‘Growing Healthy Lives’ community garden/allotment in Harpurhey as one of their projects.  This is the second success for the project near Brentford Street and Windsor Road in Harpurhey, following the £50k worth of funding awarded from the Peoples’ Millions lottery fund at the end of last year.  On Sunday 27 June, Adactus staff joined local volunteers over four hours to tidy up the community garden/allotment by cutting back overgrown vegetation and dig up weeds!  In return for their hard graft, the participants will now be receiving free concert tickets for the Orange RockCorps gigs!

Adactus Neighbourhood Development Officer, Anne Corrigan said “The event proved very popular with local volunteers.  Everyone got their hands dirty to tidy up their community garden/allotment, and in return earn free tickets to some fantastic summer gigs in Manchester.’
